Dealing with Rising Gas Prices

As of recently, when ever my gas light turns on, I've begun to cringe. Because I'm well aware that my next visit to a gas station is impending, since gas prices have risen a whooping 70-cents since December, I know that it won't be a cheap visit. Currently the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.927!
With summer approaching and everyone preparing for the next few months of travel, we can all use a little help in saving an extra penny at the gas pump. I went ahead and did some research to share with you some tips to dealing with high gas prices:
  • Shop around and find the lowest gas price near you, before the empty light turns on visit www.GasBuddy.com or download the GasBuddy Application on your smart phone, enter your zip code and view a list of the cheapest gas stations near you.
  • Pay cash at the pump, many service stations reward you with a 10-cent-per-gallon discount.
  • Drive the speed limit and use cruise control as often as possible. Not only will you save a little bit by not hitting the accelerator, but you might also prevent an unwanted ticket.
  • Maintenance check-ups, be sure to take your car in for maintenance regularly and change your oil at regular intervals.
  • Avoid excessive idling, if you turn off a light bulb as you leave the room you'll save electricity. If you turn off your car you will save gas!
If you're interested in saving money long-term at the gas pump, consider investing in a hybrid vehicle, like the Honda Insight
